We use two-photon imaging to measure spike-related activity in populations of genetically identified excitatory and inhibitory neurons. Mice perform perceptual tasks in virtual reality, allowing us to experimentally manipulate the behavioral relevance of sensory stimuli during imaging sessions. A common theme of our work is to uncover both general principles and specializations in the computations performed by local circuits across the cortical hierarchy.
Projects:
- Excitatory-Inhibitory population dynamics in sensory and association cortex
- Inhibitory control of sensory gating
- State dependent control of signal transmission between cortical networks
